Liverpool v Napoli (20:00 GMT) Team news - Konate return a lift for Liverpool

The injury recovery of Ibrahima Konate against Napoli is a huge boost for Liverpool. When injured this season, the young France centre defence has been sorely missed.

In order to make room for his comeback, Joe Gomez moves to the bench, and Andy Robertson is rested in favour of Kostas Tsimikas.

Despite scoring in victories away to Rangers and Ajax, striker Darwin Nunez is yet another player not in Liverpool's starting lineup. Harvey Elliott is replaced by Curtis Jones and James Milner, with Harvey Elliott moving to the sidelines.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Tsimikas, Van Dijk, Konate, Milner, Thiago, Fabinho, Jones, Firmino, Salah.

Liverpool's manager rejects claims that his team is deteriorating.

Liverpool's manager refuted claims that his team is deteriorating by saying that management is not simply about "when the sun is shining."

The Reds, who have already advanced to the Champions League knockout stages, will play Napoli on Tuesday.

They've had trouble in the Premier League, though, and are currently ranked ninth after winning just four of their first 12 games.

We won't give up battling, but it's not a quick remedy, stated Klopp.

"People who look at me often comment that I appear to be exhausted, but I'm not. I am unable to employ that defence. It's not just my responsibility to be present when we receive a trophy in the bright sunshine.

With players like Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Thiago Alcantara, and Jordan Henderson all being 30 years of age or older, Klopp's current starting XI also boasts one of the oldest average ages in the English top division.

This season, the German and Liverpool's owners have come under fire for not doing more to revitalise a team that came dangerously close to winning an unprecedented quadruple of titles the previous season.

However, Klopp argues that it would be unfair to evaluate his team or his own position before the season is over due to a string of critical player injuries.

Klopp continued, "I believe this should be judged later in the season, or perhaps at the conclusion.

Liverpool v Napoli Campions League (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

Following Jurgen Klopp's confirmation that Ibrahima Konate was a viable option for Tuesday's game against Napoli, Liverpool may be ready to welcome the Frenchman back to the starting lineup.

The Merseysiders enter their upcoming match after suffering yet another discouraging loss to relegation-threatened Leeds United.

There is no denying that Liverpool's recent performance has been anything but encouraging and, in fact, FAR from what many of us would have anticipated following a stellar 2021–2022-season that deserved to produce more than the two domestic cups.

Undoubtedly, injuries have contributed, giving the manager little room to challenge the underperforming stars on whom we have come to rely.

It wouldn't be a terrible idea to substitute in our more dependable French center-half, if up to the task, to offer more stability to a backline that has been defensively suspect lately. Joe Gomez epitomises the squad's current unreliability.

Anfield Road Expansion: New renderings

When Anfield's most recent extension is finished in time for the 2023–24 season, new pictures have been made public that depict how the stadium will seem.

Anfield Road stand, which is located at the other end of the field from The Kop, is now being rebuilt as part of Liverpool's historic stadium's ongoing renovation.

Anfield will get an additional 7,000 seats as part of the £80 million expansion, bringing its total capacity to 61,000 and expected to be finished in time for the start of the upcoming season.

It is the stadium's second significant renovation in recent years, following the completion of the new Main Stand in 2017.

Sky Sports pundit stumped by Fabinho problem

Sky Sports pundit stumped by Fabinho problem

When Fabinho is at his greatest best, he is a force to be reckoned with, but his play since the start of the season has left many questions unanswered.

Paul Merson said that he is struggling to pinpoint the exact reason why the Brazilian's once-elite performance levels have fallen off dramatically for Liverpool this season.

"Fabinho has participated in numerous games this year. I actually like him, so I'm not sure what the issue is, the Sky Sports analyst remarked in his most recent Sportskeeda essay.

"Liverpool needs him to be at his best if they want to succeed.

He does a lot of things that go undetected. Those of you who have followed Liverpool throughout the years are aware that the midfield

Liverpool Injury News
Long-term injuries to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz mean that Liverpool will have to manage without the two strikers until after the World Cup. Due to the length of their individual problems,
Jurgen Klopp pleaded with reporters to put the story on hold "for a long." In his pre-game press conference, the 55-year-old said to reporters, "You don't have to ask about Diogo for a while, and not for Luis for a bit" (via liverpoolfc.com).

The Reds will face Jesse Marsch's Leeds United after defeating Ajax 3-0 in midweek to bolster their confidence after suffering a shocking league loss to bottom-of-the-table Nottingham Forest. We have excelled in Europe and shown that we are more than capable.

Champions League Ajax 0 Liverpool 3

Liverpool put their domestic problems behind them by moving on to the knockout round of the Champions League against Ajax in Amsterdam.

The Reds were fortunate not to fall behind before Mohamed Salah's solitary chance on goal of the first half went in, as they needed a draw to advance to the round of 16.
With an open goal in front of him, Darwin Nunez, who returned to the starting lineup following injury, should have increased the lead before halftime.

However, the £64 million summer addition hit the post instead. The Uruguayan attacker immediately made up for it, though, by precisely heading in an Andy Robertson corner just after the break. Following a reverse feed from Salah, England Under-21 midfielder Harvey Elliott added a third goal.
