Roberto Firmino Liverpool contract
Roberto Firmino's Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, delivers an update on his contract situation while negotiations regarding Brazil's snub are underway. Firmino's current deal expires in the summer.
The status of negotiations for Roberto Firmino's new Liverpool contract has been verified by Jurgen Klopp.
The Brazilian forward is a free agent in the summer and can negotiate a pre-contract deal with clubs outside of England in January, when his current contract's last six months are up.
The 2015 summer signing Firmino is now in his eighth season on Merseyside and Klopp claims negotiations are taking place behind the scenes with the South American's representation. Firmino is one of just a few players to have played at Anfield before Klopp.
When questioned about the status of Firmino's contract, Klopp responded, "Normal conversations [are] going as well, so we will see what happens there."

Liverpool finished the World Cup with a win at Anfield to mark the beginning of Nathan Jones' Southampton tenure with a defeat.
Before the Saints' unmarked Che Adams equalised for the Reds, Roberto Firmino put the disappointment of not making the Brazil squad for Qatar behind him by scoring the opening goal for the Reds.
Darwin Nunez of Uruguay scored twice in the game's first half to give Liverpool the lead.
Nunez made it 2-1 when he prodded past Gavin Bazunu from close range before tapping in the third goal after Andy Robertson's pass. Nunez is one of seven Reds players now headed to the World Cup.
Without the 20-year-old Bazunu's two superb saves, both of which came from close range and denied Mohamed Salah and Firmino, Liverpool would have won by a larger margin.
Alisson, the goalkeeper for the Reds, also made a strong save to save Adams' header in the 77th minute.
